A Spring Reset provides Instant Curb Appeal

Now that the winter snows are melting into April puddles, it is time to refresh our spaces both inside and out. Buyers start deciding on the price they’re willing to pay for your property from the first second they drive up, and you don’t want to leave any money on the table!

An easy way to improve the curb appeal of the home is to give it a good clean. This tip may sound obvious, but you might be surprised at how much of a difference it can make. A tidier space will help to brighten moods and will help make the property more appealing to buyers.

Winter can leave behind all sorts of debris; leaves, dirt, old holiday decorations, or garbage. Checking gutters, downspouts, and storm drains for clogs is the first step to ensure easy snow-melt drainage. Work gloves and a grabber tool are a must-have for dealing with anything left cluttering the yard, front entrance, or balcony. Clearing away the remnants of winter will improve the overall look of the space and may reduce the number of allergens around the home.

The front door is one of the first things visitors or potential buyers will see when they arrive. A fresh coat of paint on the front door and mailbox is a good idea, but a deliberate scrubbing will also show pride of ownership. Don’t forget to oil hinges, check the weather stripping, and take note of any maintenance needed before next winter.

Double-check those outdoor light fixtures! Dirt buildup on the glass, cobwebs, or a burnt-out bulb can make an entrance feel dreary and unsafe. A quick swipe with a broom or duster can make a significant difference in the entryway appearance. Consider upgrading to LED or Solar fixtures for a more eco-friendly, and welcoming exterior.

A pop of colour can go a long way to making a great first impression. It may still be too early for flowering plants in the garden, but coordinating planters, stepping stones, or a cheerful bird feeder can make for a vibrant outdoor space in any weather.

These tips are a starting point for rejuvenating a home quickly and easily. Time to roll up our sleeves, get out there, and get cleaning! As the season continues to warm up, we will see more buyers out looking to buy, prices will adjust, and the market will really get moving!
