Front yards in bloom - ALBERTA AVENUE WINS! This is a victory not only for the homeowners, but for the Alberta Avenue Community. The community of Alberta Avenue was once characterized as a high-crime area. 118 Avenue was not a street that was a destination for many people. However, with the hard work of local residents, and the City of Edmonton's neighborhood revitalization grants, the community is as strong as ever. Local shops had extensive renovations to their storefronts, cafe's flourished, and residents built a strong community where neighbours know each other by name and keep each other feeling safe. The Front Yards in Bloom victory for the home in Alberta Avenue is in my opinion, a victory not only for the homeowner (who does have a beautiful front yard!), but for the area itself - I am not sure how likely a win would have been in this area even 5 years ago. Congratulations Alberta Avenue - you rock!
As far as buying in Alberta Avenue goes, there are some awesome properties for sale. It is still quite affordable, and has a mix of fixer-uppers, heritage-style homes, and renovated gems.
